I’ve decided to write a blog about my life with motorcycles.
I’m quite involved with classic bikes and the restoration thereof. I work with a number of motorcycle manufacturers, and have very close relations with all the signifi cant clothing companies. I also have a lot of dealings with the bike press and go on quite a few interesting trips.
The fact is that I enjoy writing, and motorcycles are my first love (okay, so they may be my second), and I like the idea of sharing some of my views, ideas and thoughts with other bikers. Of course, I’m not short of an opinion or two! I want to talk about all manner of things, like the slightly farcical state of CE safety standards. I’d also like to stimulate a debate about the changing nature of the bike market, and why the media always seem to be so out of touch. I find the clothing market really fascinating, and I reckon there are many motorcyclists out there who would like to know more about the companies who produce the gear we risk life and limb in. Who makes the best gear? Who can you trust? And which companies rely more on slick marketing than innovative and technical products.
There’s a lot to say about the retail industry as well. Why are most retailers so poor? Why is the market so driven by price, and why do so many retailers seem to disappear from the scene? Anyway, even if nobody reads what I’ve got to say, I’ll still enjoy recording my experiences, and airing my views. If, like me, you’re interested in bikes, current trends and how the market is developing, you might occasionally fi nd that I’ve got something interesting to say.
You’ll have to be the judge as to just how occasionally that is!
